Description Dragonfly Racer or Sivuftotovi Kachina carries a yucca leaf whip and a container of corn smut that he smears on his victims when he beats them at races. If he overtakes his challenger, he may decide to use the yucca whip rather than smear his victim. There is quite a range of variation in the appearance of this kachina. It is almost 10″ tall and 3 1/2″ wide. Award winning artist Earl Dino Patterson Jr., also known as Sunaweuma, hails from the Hopi and Navajo tribes of Hotevilla (Third Mesa) on the Hopi reservation in northeastern Arizona, belonging to the Roadrunner and Greasewood clans. This exquisite Kachina, meticulously carved from Hopi cottonwood root, is signed by Earl Dino Patterson (Sunaweuma).
