Description Calamus has intense aromatic properties. Also known as and cinnamon sedge, the powdered rhizome is used to scent lotions, perfumes and bath products. Other names: acorus, sweet calamus, sweetflag, vacha and bitter root. Calamus is quite common in Manipur and the Naga Hills of India and is found on the edges of lakes and streams. Used universally in herbal medicine, this root is attributed with an intensely aromatic fragrance and a tangy, pungent and bitter taste. In Ayurveda, Calamus is considered an aromatic, bitter tonic which stimulates digestion. Similar in looks to ginger, calamus root’s sweet smell makes it valuable in perfumes as well. Calamus has long been known to have positive effects on your energy. Because of its sweet and aromatic fragrance it has also been a key component in perfumes as well. 8 oz. bag.
